Join sculptor Ellie Brown for an intensive 4-day workshop focusing on carving a portrait using a live model, allowing yourself to immerse in the craft of stone carving.

On day 1 you will sketch from a live model and build in clay to really understand the techniques of capturing a face.

You will then spend the remaining 3 days focusing on carving a portrait into a 20x20x25cm stone block, as well as learning about the tools and techniques to create a successful stone sculpture. Maltese Limestone is very soft and easy to work, so everyone will go away with a completed portrait by the end of the 4 day workshop.

The aim of the intensive workshop is to be able to capture something in real life and successfully transfer that into stone. You will leave the workshop knowledge of stone carving tools and the process in completing a carved sculpture.
