For those with a certain competence in drawing, this course gives you the opportunity to further develop your skills and gain confidence. You will be encouraged to explore the endless possibilities of transposing what you see onto paper and to expand your visual vocabulary, focusing on process as well as results.
From quick drawings using an intuitive response to more sustained studies, you will be challenged to broaden your use of materials as well as study the key elements of proportion, mark making, perspective, line, tone and composition. Work will be mainly from life with some study of other artists and the occasional excursion if the weather permits.

Please note that this workshop is for those aged 18 and over.
You are welcome to bring a lidded bottle of water with you but we kindly ask that you do not bring food into the studio.

Claire has been a practising artist and art teacher for 20 years, she followed a Foundation course in Cheltenham with a BA in Fine Art at Reading University. On graduating she moved to London to work in two creative industries, film and art consultancy, but she was soon drawn back to an easel by a love of painting.
Alongside her own work she is greatly inspired by helping others fulfil their creative potential and has taught a wide variety of ages and abilities including at a pupil referral unit and G.C.S.E., A Level and Foundation students at the Fine Arts College in Hampstead. She has a PGCE in Art and Design and runs adult workshops in drawing and painting.
Her very contemporary and experimental degree course combined with good knowledge of classical and traditional techniques allows her to apply a wide range of theories to her teaching. Students are encouraged to look at the work of other artists and experiment with materials and styles.
Claire exhibits and is commissioned regularly and has recently completed a year long residency role at Godolphin School in Salisbury.
