Join ceramic artist Rhi Jarman to create your own festive decorations using porcelain paper clay.
In this workshop, Rhi will show you how to make your own festive decorations using a variety of mark making and texturising techniques. Rhi will demonstrate different design and decorating methods such as stencilling and slip trailing for you to create your own unique pieces. There is also the opportunity to add colour using underglaze and oxides.
Following the workshop, your pieces will be stoneware fired, three decorations can be transparent glazed.
You will leave this workshop with an understanding of how to use porcelain paper clay and with skills in 2D design, mark making, texturising, fettling and colour application. You will have made a set of beautiful hanging decorations ready to be kiln fired to keep for years to come.

Please note that this workshop is for those aged 18 and over.
You are welcome to bring a lidded bottle of water with you but we kindly ask that you do not bring food into the studio.

Who is this workshop for?
The workshop is suitable for complete beginners, or for novice or intermediate potters to gain confidence with new materials and techniques.
What you will need:
Please bring an apron or wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
Please remove jewellery and tie hair back.
You may wish to bring a sketchbook or images for inspiration.
All materials and equipment are included. All work made will be bisque fired. Three pieces of work will be fired with a transparent glaze. Firings can take up to 6 weeks. We will contact you when your work is ready for collection.

Meet Your Tutor - rhi jarman
Rhi is a creator of unique sculptural ceramics, decorative homewares and wearable art. She is inspired by the fauna, flora and fungi that play vital roles in balancing natural ecosystems.
Rhi uses a combination of hand-building, sculpting, and wheel-throwing techniques.
Alongside her own work, Rhi teaches adult courses and workshops in both throwing and hand building.
