Join artist Emma Leyfield in this half-day urban sketching workshop in the beautiful streets of Cirencester.

Whether you're an experienced artist looking to try something new, or a beginner inspired by sketchbooks, this half-day workshop is a chance to do some in-person plein-air sketching amongst the hustle and bustle of Cirencester. From shop fronts, cafe-goers, monuments and landscapes; urban environments are a gold mine to the sketchbooker. This is your chance to have a go as a part of a group and learn the tricks and tips of the wandering artist.

You will gain confidence drawing outside in a group environment, with tips on drawing buildings from life, composition, and including figures in their scene.

Meet your tutor

Emma's work is inspired by the simple delight of beautiful things. Observed and studied in a pocket sketchbook, these paintings feed into larger pictures and ideas. She's currently completing an MA in Children's Book Illustration at Anglia Ruskin University. Around her studies, she illustrates a regular column for the English Garden Magazine from her studio in Nailsworth and teaches workshops in Gloucestershire. Emma runs a regular Life Drawing class here at the New Brewery Arts on Thursdays as well as a mixture of workshops that focus on traditional aspects of drawing and watercolours.
