Join Daisy Embury of Bloom Creative for "A Day of Botanicals: Intro to Oil Paints" and celebrate the approach of spring time.

This workshop is a perfect opportunity to learn something new, near a season full of new beginnings. Throughout the day, you'll work on a single painting, focusing on skill-building through a gentle and mindful approach. The workshop is structured in stages, with Daisy guiding you step-by-step and demonstrating alongside you.

You will begin the workshop with introductions to the materials, the tutor, and each other, before diving into the gridding method to sketch and compose your piece. From there, you will explore finding your colour palette, and the most exciting part begins: applying your oil paints. You will then start by carefully layering base colours, slowly and thinly, ensuring you don't overwork the canvas too soon.

Throughout the day Daisy will encourage you to explore the medium, allowing you to gain new skills at each stage of your painting, developing a foundational understanding of the oil painting process.

You will leave this workshop with a foundation of skills you apply to your own paintings at home over a longer period of time.

It’s been beautiful to reflect on the link in what I was naturally drawn to at a young age, and my returned curiosity to combine both Nature and us.

meet your tutor

Daisy is a self-taught, British artist and oil painter, currently exploring our relationship with nature through oil paintings, and journey from Birth to Rebirth.

Daisy discovered oil paints when she was 12, and had a fascination with hands, feet, and human skin, evolving into freelancing as a portrait painter. She took her creativity to University, to study Fine Art, developed a love for painting botanicals, delicate likeness to the humans, and returned to portraiture in the final year.

Daisy has participated in group shows, won Botanical Artist of the year, and was selected for the Clyde & Co Awards. She also briefly attended The Florence Academy of Art in Italy, after obsessing over the Renaissance craftsmanship. She then spent three years in the beautiful New Zealand, and took various commissions during her time there. Then relocated to Melbourne to work as a Personalisation Expert and Artisan for Louis Vuitton. This put her back in touch with creativity, and her own ideas were birthed.
