Join textiles artist, Amy Hodson in her Beginners Weaving workshop to learn the basics of weaving and create a textured, contemporary wall hanging.

Using unique handmade framed looms you will set up your first warp and learn basic, contemporary tapestry weaving and classic hand-weaving techniques including fringing rya knots, plain tabby weave, soumak, and rya loops. You will then experiment with a variety of wools and natural materials to create different textures from the selection provided in your chosen colour palette, to weave your own personal wall hanging that you can take home.

Amy will demonstrate how to tidy up your loose ends, insert your piece of chosen driftwood and remove your wall-hanging from your loom. You will be given everything you need to create your own woven wall-hanging.

This workshop is designed to be fun and engaging with the opportunity to express yourself while learning at your own pace.
