Three days of portraiture. Spend a long weekend in the studio drawing and painting.

Each day will kick-off with drawing and painting exercises, followed by time developing a long posed-painting.

Your tutor, Francis, will lead you through the process with examples, discussions and exercises as well as a high level of individual tuition. This process aims to simplify the fundamental stages of portrait painting, allowing for the enjoyment of each students individuality to manifest along the way.

With the sustained observation of a single posed portrait sitting, this deep dive into portraiture allows for all abilities to develop a painted portrait from life.

MEET YOUR TUTOR

Francis Martin’s work explores the light emulating effects of charcoal graphite and oil paint. Working from life and before the motif he aims to convey a personal response to his environment and the world around him. As a result his practice encompasses a broad variety of ideas and subject matter, including portraiture, landscape, life-drawing, still life and interiors.
